How to strengthen your nails?
Well-kept, beautiful nails are a sign of pride for many people. However, the good condition of your nails is much more than just one factor working against your image. It is primarily the result of providing your body with all the necessary vitamins and minerals. Natural nails also need to be cared for from the outside. You can do this thanks to conditioners, masks and oils. By caring for your nails in this way, you keep them in good condition, both when it comes to the appearance of the nail plate and the cuticles around the nails. Unfortunately, a diet containing many processed foods, as well as damage to the nail plate, such as nail-biting, have a huge impact on their condition. What's more, they are exposed daily to temperature changes, accidental bumps and contact with liquids that can dry them out.
Take care of your hands and nail care.
How to strengthen your nails with diet?
When hoping to improve the appearance of your nails, the first thing you need to do is maintain a varied, balanced diet. This is critical, as vitamin deficiencies are the easiest way to develop problems that can affect not only the plate, but also every layer of the nail. The most important thing is that the diet should not lack
- wholesome protein (e.g. lean meat, dairy products, eggs) - this provides the body with amino acids involved in the formation of collagen fibres. This in turn translates into stronger nails,
- fatty acids (e.g. oily sea fish, linseed oil) - especially omega 3, which contains EPA and DHA. They regulate the water-fat balance, which provides high levels of moisture to the skin, and also strengthen the nail plate,
- vitamin A (e.g. green vegetables, orange fruits) - accelerates cell renewal and improves the structure of keratin, which is the building material of the nails,
- silicon (e.g. garlic, porridge, nettle tea) - participates in the biosynthesis of collagen and therefore has an effect not only on the skin, but can also effectively strengthen nails and treat their fragility,
- iron (e.g. meat products, vegetables, egg yolk) - has a strengthening effect on nails and prevents them from splitting.
In addition to introducing nutrients into your diet that have a nail strengthening effect, you can also introduce nutritional supplements into your diet. Weakened nails can benefit from this. The main building block of nails is creatine. This is why you should reach for products with this ingredient in the first place. The condition of the nail plate also depends on collagen.
What vitamins do I need to strengthen my nails?
A healthy nail plate also means the presence of a vitamin; vitamin A has a strengthening effect on the nails. A healthy nail plate is also the result of vitamin C and the B vitamins - especially B12.
White spots on the nails - what vitamin is missing?
It is commonly believed that white spots on the nails are a sign of a vitamin or mineral deficiency. This is why it is so important to supply the body with the right nutrients through the diet. Apart from vitamin A and B vitamins, it is also worthwhile to take care of foods rich in zinc, iron and calcium.
